Peeball Mania Sweeps the Land of the Leak Back
Tears and Triumphs at Inaugural All-Wales Peeball Championships

Six months after its UK launch the game of Peeball is on schedule to achieve its aim of raising £1million for The Prostate Cancer Charity. The sport was created to raise public consciousness regarding the symptoms of prostate disease and men's health issues.

The game has proved especially popular in The Principality, with The Pottery Pub in the outskirts of Pontypridd becoming a Mecca for Peeball players after it held the inaugural Welsh National Peeball Championship and the first ever Women's Peeball Tournament officially sanctioned by the Sport's governing body, the International Peeball Federation (IPF), in one memorable night this spring.

TEARS AND TRIUMPHS AT INAUGURAL ALL-WALES PEEBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Available from thousands of high street stores, pubs and clubs across the length and breadth of the UK, it's not surprising that every week the IPF receives e-mails from groups of friends holding unofficial tournaments. However, one venue, The Pottery Pub in Pontypridd, wanted something more official. And so begins the story of the first ever All-Wales Peeball Championship.

On the evening of St David's Day, 2003 the atmosphere in the pub was electric as the very best players in The Principality gathered to unleash their bladders on a full case of Peeballs for the title of Master Blaster of Wales.

The eventual winner of the Men's Championship was Martin Jones, who dissolved his Peeball in a hugely impressive time of 11.5 seconds - a score that would compete with the very best anywhere in Europe.

However, the real headlines were made in the first Women's Competition. As well as being in the first officially recognised ladies' tournament held in the UK, Rachel Hancock's winning time of 21.30 seconds would have defeated every male competitor except Martin and runner-up ChrisHall. In a sport traditionally dominated by owners of external genitalia, Hancock's magnificent effort has made headlines all around the Peeball World.

The real winner was the game of Peeball and The Prostate Cancer Charity (who received a cheque for £200 after the event). However, if there was a loser on the night it was the pre-tournament favourite 'Dangerous' Dave Griffiths, who failed to destroy a Peeball on three successive stands and picked up the unwanted 'Weakest Leak' title.
